Frequently Asked Questions
What are the dates for Global Storm?
June 1-August 1, 2010. You arrive into Kansas City, Missouri, on June 1 by 2:00pm at the latest, and depart on August 1 as early as you’d like.
Do we have a training camp, and what are the dates of training camp?
Yes, we have a wonderful time of equipping, preparation, and team-building planned for you! Training camp will take place from the day you arrive, June 1, through June 5, the day you depart for overseas.
Do we come back to Kansas City for any kind of debrief at the end of our trip?
You will fly back to Kansas City with your team on July 31. You will spend one night here, where you will have a time of eating, sharing, and praising God with the entire reunited Global Storm! Your will leave the next day, August 1, for your home.
I live close by. Can I drive to training camp on June 1?
Sure, you can drive to our training facility, but as we are using private property, you will not be allowed to leave your car there during the summer. We suggest that if you are driving, have someone drop you off.
What is the cost of Global Storm?
All mission trips are $4885, plus you must send in a non-refundable $35 deposit with your application.
After emailing in my application, when should I expect to hear from someone at Global Storm?
Once we have received your application AND your references AND your $35 application fee, you will get a phone call or email from one of our staff within twenty-four hours. Global Storm will set up a time for a personal interview with you at that time. Please ask your references to let YOU know when they have sent your reference to us, so you can know when to be expecting to be contacted by us.
What can I expect from the interview?
At least a forty-five minute conversation with a Global Storm staff member who really wants to hear about the things that are on your heart.
What if I have no previous mission experience?
Can I still go with Global Storm? Previous mission experience is not required, but we are looking for those with a real heart for missions and some understanding of what will be required of you on the field.
What if I have a conflict and can’t be at training camp?
Can I join the team later? Training camp is a very important part of Global Storm. If you can’t make it to training camp this year, then you can’t go on the mission. However, you can sign up for next year! We’ll look forward to meeting you then!
What happens if I don’t get all of my support in?
If you do not get all of the necessary monies you need to go on this mission, then what money you do have can be held for you for up to one year from the start of the trip you applied for. If you applied for Summer 2010, we will hold it until Summer 2011, etc.
If I can’t go on the trip for some reason, can I get my money back? Or can I have Global Storm transfer it to another Global Storm participant?
Sorry, but all funds received by Global Storm are NON-refundable and NON-transferable. Like stated before, if you can’t go on the trip due to certain situations such as an illness in your family, we will hold the funds for you till next year.
Can my boyfriend/girlfriend go on the trip with me?
Global Storm loves healthy relationships! However, we want to keep the focus on the mission at hand, and not on the beautiful person sitting beside you! If you are dating someone and both of you desire to go on a Global Storm mission, we ask that you choose two different trips.
While on the field and at training camp, how much will I be able to communicate with folks back home?
You will not be allowed to bring a cell phone to training camp, but we do encourage each person to call home as soon as they arrive at the airport in Kansas City. You will be able to call home again on June 5 when you depart from the airport for overseas. Once on the field, you will be able to call home or email home ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS, if your location allows for this. Obviously, if you are in the boondocks, then you will not be calling home as frequently. However, we will be posting regular updates on the web for your parents, supporters and friends to see. That way they can hear what you are doing, know how to pray for you, and be involved in your mission.
